Mini-Hops Gymnastics to Host Minnesota’s Special Olympics State Gymnastics Competition
To the Press:
Did you know that Mini-Hops Gymnastics (Minnetonka Hopkins Gymnastics Association) hosts the largest Special Olympics gymnastics program in the state of Minnesota? We have 40 gymnasts (32 compete at meets) who participate in gymnastics every Saturday from 12:30 p.m.–2:30 p.m.
Our volunteer coaches are trained by the state and dedicated to generously giving their time to the community. The children participate at no cost. As we continue to grow our Special Olympics team, we need more volunteers, equipment, and support. We are asking the press to be our advocate in several ways.
We would love to see the Minnesota State Special Olympics Gymnastics meet publicized. As hosts of this meet, we encourage the press to help us welcome the Special Olympics athletes from around the state. Once again in 2010 Mini-hops will be hosting the Minnesota State Special Olympics Gymnastics meet on June 18-19.
There are many special interest stories among the children who participate. One of our athletes, Laura Franson, who underwent heart transplant surgery only one year ago at the Mayo clinic in Rochester will be competing in all rhythmic and artistic events at the state competition. We enjoy promoting our program through special interest stories like these. Perhaps you would like to highlight one of our athletes.
And most importantly, we are always in need of volunteers (youth and adult) to help us coach these wonderful athletes as well as promote our program.
Gratefully,
Michaela Chelberg, Mini-Hops Executive Director
