Our Goal…
Our philosophy is to encourage children in a fun, upbeat, safe environment to enhance their self-confidence, foster healthy character development, overall fitness, mental and social skills, teach life skills, and develop an enthusiasm for physical activity. With our curriculum based on gymnastics and fitness, we teach basic fitness and gymnastics skills while stimulating young minds toward learning and movement. Lesson plans are changed every two weeks for challenging fun.
The Structure…
In our Mini-Hoppers Preschool Gymnastics program, a parent or caring adult joins the child in class until they are approximately 3 1/2 years old. The Mini-Hoppers program will develop your child’s self-confidence and enhance their physical capabilities while keeping safety as a top priority. Our preschool-size equipment includes trampolines, incline mats, uneven bars, and monkey bars. This smaller equipment makes it so fun to come and be a Mini-Hopper gymnast!
Our Early Girls/Boys programs are progressive skill-based classes specifically for children who complete our Mini-Hoppers program and are physically and emotionally ready to safely begin this structured program, which takes place in the main gym on the larger equipment. Your child’s instructor will recommend the best class to meet their needs and abilities.
Gymnastics is Our Specialty
Teaching physical activity through gymnastics has been our specialty as a non-profit in the community since 1976. In the preschool gymnastics program, beginning at age one to age six, we provide a positive experience with physical fitness in a classroom setting. We present enjoyable physical, mental, and social experiences and challenges for your child. We incorporate a blend of music, gymnastics (bars, beam, tumbling, and trampoline) and periodic use of small motor equipment such as rhythmic ribbons, hoops, balls, and balloons. We also have great educational themes such as “911”, Seasons, Muscle Magic, Dinosaurs, and Outer Space, to name a few.
Class Descriptions:
Ages 12 months – 42 months: Parent & Child Classes
Pre-Me (ages approx. 12-18 months) Ratio 6:1 – 40minThis class brings a parent onto the floor amidst the excitement of this child directed program. We encourage exploring and discovering as well as parent/child bonding in this class. Quality time for both is essential. Music and movement exploration is a major part of the curriculum. A small student/teacher ratio is kept for personal attention. Hand/eye coordination and ball handling skills are developed along with small and large motor development. A precious time for you and your child!
You & Me (ages approx 18-30 months) Ratio 6:1 – 40min
Children of these ages learn at an astounding rate! You will have fun observing and assisting your child as they learn about their body, practicing and mastering developmentally appropriate skills in a fun, safe, and stimulating environment. Since this is often a child’s first experience in a group setting, a caring and experienced Mini-Hops instructor will lead and instruct you and your child through the class structure. You will be amazed by how much your child learns in this class, from gross motor and fine motor skills, to body awareness, balance, strength and agility!
Almost Me (ages 2 ½- 3 ½) Ratio 6:1 – 40min
This class introduces the structure of preschool in very small increments and begins preparing children for their next steps of independence. A parent still accompanies their child and continues to use this class as a special bonding time. At the same time, we help to foster independence by offering fun and challenging activities the child can accomplish “all by themselves”. We create “teachable moments” for both the parent and the child through movement activities in a group setting. Music and movement exploration are incorporated into the curriculum. Enjoy the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping your child to develop their bodies and minds through movement activities. These are lessons that will last a lifetime!
Ages 2 ½ – 6 years: Independent Preschool Gymnastics Classes
Just Me (Ages 2 ½-3 ½) (teacher recommended) Ratio 5:1 – 40min
This class is designed for the youngster who has previously attended our Parent & Child classes, has good listening skills, and can safely perform a variety of climbing, balancing and rolling skills independently. We keep a low teacher-to-student ratio because children work together with their instructor and classmates learning new activities through small circuits to further develop fine motor, gross motor, and social skills. They also increase their self-confidence, body awareness, strength, and agility, all in a fun and fast-paced gymnastics class!
Lil’ Hoppers – (Ages 3 ½- 4 ½) (1 hour) Ratio 6:1 – 1 hour
This class is designed for development of gymnastics, hand-eye coordination, ball-handling skills, movement to music, and over-all fitness, utilizing large and small motor equipment where students learn and have FUN. These Lil’ Hoppers learn by achieving skills, which in turn fosters self-esteem. Developing healthy learning attitudes is vital during their formative preschool years.
Jr. Hoppers – (Ages 4 ½ – 6) Ratio 6:1 – 1 hour
This one-hour class offers general strength and coordination building as well as gymnastic skill development, depending on the needs of the child. We introduce more structure emphasizing on participation and effort, which helps to prepare these students for the productive, progressive skill-based program in the big gym. Instructors will keep your child motivated as they learn new skills through fun teaching techniques. Gymnastics enhances self-confidence, teaches life lessons, and fosters healthy character development while building healthy bodies and minds. They use all the gymnastic equipment including uneven bars, balance beam, trampoline, and Tumbl-Trak.
